Ingredients:
| 2 | pound | cabbage chopped |
| 1 1/4 | cup | chana dal |
| 8 | tablespoon | canola oil |
| 1/2 | teaspoon | mustard seeds |
| 2 | chiles (green) chopped finely | |
| 1 | large | onion (red) sliced |
| 2 | teaspoon | coriander powder |
| 1/2 | teaspoon | cumin powder |
| 2 | teaspoon | lemon juice |
| 2 | tablespoon | coconut grated |
| 1 | tablespoon | cilantro chopped, optional |
| salt, to taste |
Directions:
1. Wash and soak the chana dal for 2 hours.
2. Cook in 3 cups of salted water until soft but not mushy. Drain water and keep cooked dal aside.
3. Heat oil in a skillet on medium heat. Add mustard seeds. When mustard seeds are almost done cracking, add green chilies and let them sizzle for a minute.
4. Now add sliced onion and cook onion until soft and transparent. Add cabbage and stir fry for a few minutes. Now add cooked dal and the rest of the ingredients and cook it for 2 more minutes. Serve with chapatis or parathas.
